_Preventing one child a minute
_Right now, 1.2 billion people are at high risk of contracting malaria. In 2015, 214 million cases resulted in 438,00 malaria deaths of children under five years of age leaving families and communities devasted. That’s about one child a minute!
But help is at hand by bringing two organisations together to deliver BITEBACK - a simple innovation that delivers early prevention resulting in greater protection.
GSK have been looking for a new challenge as part of their ongoing fight against malaria. They put their support behind Kite, a new and very innovative company, whose technology utilises breakthrough compounds found in food flavours and fragrances which are then produced as small, colourful stickers which block mosquitoes’ ability to track humans for up to 48 hours.
However, its impact depends on shoppers. Quite simply, for every GSK product sold, a pack of stickers is donated to vulnerable children in mosquito hotspots.
